Most common questions we get asked about this product:
It's actually not that common to find collagen products on the market with FIVE main collagen types in the actual formulation. Most use just two -Type 1 and 3 -and with that said, these simple products on retail shelves do not meet the standards that Dr. Wallach or Steve Wallach would want you to have or i;promote to others.
Here's what you need to understand and share: Collagen is the most abundant protein in the extracellular matrix (ECM). It is a triple-helix structure that can initiate and maintain the interaction between cells and matrix.
The five most common types of collagen are:
Type I: Found in skin, bone, teeth, tendon, ligaments, vascular ligature, and organs. It makes up 90% of your body's collagen.
Type II: Found in elastic cartilage, which provides joint support. Type II: Found in muscles, arteries, and organs. Type V: A minor connective tissue component of nearly ubiquitous distribution.
Type X: (Now this is super technical) -Type X collagen facilitates endochondral ossification by regulating matrix mineralization and compartmentalizing matrix components.
CONCLUSION: Type X collagen is a reliable marker for new bone formation in articular cartilage.
Our Youngevity Collagen is specifically sourced from grass-fed beef, cage-free chicken fish, and eggshell membrane. As I stated above, most collagen supplements contain only Type I and Ill with no special sourcing. Our Youngevity multi-collagen offers all five types PLUS ours includes collagen digesting enzymes that allow the body to better utilize dosage.
It's technical. It's important. IT WORKS!!!
