HOLIDAY S T R E S S RELIEF

November 08, 2019 4 min read

Every year it’s the same.  it’s the same.  Stress, stress, stress for the Holidays.  Am I like everyone else?  I don’t mean to get “stressed out” when the thought of decorating the house, picking out gifts, gatherings with friends and family, and getting my entire “to do” list done by the end of the year hits me around the beginning of November.  Add to the top of all my lists, the desire to make everything PERFECT, and you have a perfect recipe for Holiday stress!

I always have thoughts and hopes of wonderful family gatherings where everyone is so overjoyed to see each other and nary is there a cross word spoken.  Christmas is wonderful as well and everyone loves the holiday spirit, no one has a problem with the gift(s) they have so graciously been given, and no one is in a hurry to leave.

Am I the only one that feels whacko? Why do I do this to myself every year?  Is it expectations of myself or others that cause this yearly dilemma?  I’ll probably never know, but I’m going to get some help this year.

I have found an easy way to decrease my stress and anxiety each Holiday season.  I’m going to use essential oils to relieve my stress and anxiety.

There are several essential oils that will effectively relieve stress and anxiety if used correctly.  A few of the oils that could be used are Bergamot, Coriander, Red Mandarin, Green Mandarin, Black Spruce, Lavender Maillette, Sandalwood and Rose Geranium.  If you have children that are 3 years or older, Red Mandarin, Lavender Maillette, Rose Geranium, Bergamot, Coriander, and Green Mandarin are safe for them.   I love the Youngevity line of essential oils and they have a few blends which work nicely as well. Blends give you more punch as they include several different oils that have been pre-selected for the desired outcome.

The blends I recommend are Earth Scent™ (best at night), Heaven Scent™ (best in the morning), Dragon’s Breath™, and Dill Blend™.  You will find that several of the single oils are included in the blends.  For example, Earth Scent contains amounts of Amyris, Cedarwood, Clary Sage, Ginger, Juniper Berry, Juniper Leaf, Patchouli and Vetiver. Earth Scent ™ can be used to balance brain function and give mental support. It helps the brain organize thoughts, have a clearer focus, and reduces overall stress levels.  It works best at the end of the day when it helps reduce mental chatter and supports a good night’s rest. It works well with Heaven Scent™.

Heaven Scent™ contains amounts of Amyris, Bergamot, Black Spruce, Cedarwood, Clementine and Geranium.  This blend supports overall body balancing, both physically and emotionally.  It will generally promote an uplifting mood and support the mental energy and brain function needed for a positive and appreciative attitude.  It is best to use it at the beginning of the day. Both Earth Scent™ and Heaven Scent™ can be used when children 3+ years old are present.

All of the essential oils I’ve mentioned can be diffused with 8-10 drops of EO or EOB for 15 minutes every hour. You can also put 1 drop on a tissue and sniff as needed or place 1-2 drops in the palm of your hand.  Rub your hands together and cup your hands over your mouth and nose without touching your face, and inhale.  All of these oils also work well by placing 1-2 drops on a diffuser necklace or bracelet.  You can find necklaces and bracelets in styles for men and women.

The Youngevity line of essential oils can be found at www.richminerals.com.  A variety of essential oil lines, including Youngevity, can be purchased at Nutrition West in Meridian, Idaho. Nutrition West also has diffusers, necklaces, bracelets, and containers to use with your EO or EOBs.

As I’ve already said, these oils are great for stress and anxiety. Come to think of it, they can be used all year, not just during the Holidays.  Now that’s a great idea!
